Milarepa Initiation and Retreat

With Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche

September 2 - 5, 2010

MilarepaLama Zopa          Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche                                  Jetsun Milarepa

We are delighted to host Milarepa Center’s Spiritual Director and Leader of the FPMT, Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche, for this precious experience. There is nothing quite like being on retreat with Rinpoche. Don’t miss this wonderful end-of-summer treat.

The initiation will be held at approximately 7:00pm on Thursday, September 2 followed by a 3-day retreat on the practice of Milarepa. Details about this retreat will follow in the coming months.

The initiation is a Highest Yoga Tantra Initiation, but does not qualify as a Great Initiation and therefore, can take place in one evening. There will be a small mantra commitment (the number will be specified by Rinpoche at the time of the initiation) and if Rinpoche gives tantric vows then there will also be a commitment of reciting the Six  Session Guru Yoga for the rest of one’s life. Students should be ready to take the Tantric Vows and commitment. In addition, if the initiation includes Tantric Vows, it would also include taking Refuge Precepts and Bodhisattva Vows so it’s helpful if participants have some understanding of these as well. A tsog will be offered at the conclusion of the initiation.

You are welcome to attend the initiation only; if you have had the initiation before, you can also just attend the retreat.  Advanced registration for the initiation and retreat as well as full participation in all 3 days of the retreat are required.

Registration fees: Initiation only - $50 per person (members $40 per person)

Retreat: sliding scale $200-450 per person (includes all meals and shared accommodation or camping with your own tent).

To register, please submit the Milarepa Initiation/Retreat Registration Form that can be downloaded from our website or filled out online.  If you do not have access to the internet, please contact us at milarepa@milarepacenter.org or by phone at (802) 633-4136 and we will be happy to put the registration materials in the mail to you.

Payments can be made in cash or check made payable to Milarepa Center and mailed to us at PO Box 51, Barnet, VT 05821 USA.

If you would like to pay via credit card, an additional $3.00 transaction fee will be added to your total. To do so, please use our secure PayPal option on our website. Once we have received your completed registration form along with the full payment, we will email you back a confirmation letter with additional information about your visit to Milarepa Center, etc.

If you have obstacles to offering the registration fees, please call our office to discuss. Monastics may attend all programs for free, but still need to register in advance.
