KITCHEN MANAGER/COOKPrimary Duties: Prepare and cook vegetarian meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Plan menus, ensure quality of food and determine size of food proportions. Oversee the food budget and product purchasing. Prepare dishes for program participants with food allergies. Maintain a clean kitchen and work area. Ability to direct kitchen assistant and other kitchen volunteers to work independently but also collaboratively. The position is compensated with a monthly stipend, room and board. KITCHEN ASSISTANTPrimary Duties: Assist kitchen manager with food preparation and service. Clean food preparation areas and equipment. Responsible for properly labeling, covering and storing unused food after each meal. Work with kitchen manager as requested in inventorying and stocking food products and supplies. Busses and resets dining room following meals, as requested. HOUSEKEEPERThe role of housekeeper is a key position at Milarepa. We are looking for someone energetic, enthusiastic and detail oriented to clean the facility on a daily basis. The housekeeper will also be involved in the setting up and preparation of the Gompa (meditation hall) before courses and any other special events. In addition the housekeeper will supervise the karma yoga jobs whilst the courses are running. GARDENERThe Gardener must have knowledge of common vegetable plants at all stages of development, be able to distinguish between weeds and plants at all stages of development, and be comfortable working outdoors in all temperatures and types of weather. Manage composting program – bringing compost buckets from kitchen to compost area; turning compost; spreading compost on vegetable garden beds. Harvest food and deliver to kitchen at appropriate times as coordinated with the kitchen manager. Oversee occasional volunteers. Apply Online OFFICE ASSISTANTThe office assistant will maintain the office environment by answering phones, filing, and other office related work. The office assistant will be asked to participate in special events planning and preparation, along with contacting volunteers, distribution of promotional materials and coordinating and maintaining registration for all programs. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel and FileMaker Pro software is preferable. CARPENTER/MAINTENANCE ASSISTANTAre you handy with an interest in offering service at a spiritual center? Milarepa is seeking motivated individuals with maintenance and carpentry experience to help during our active season. You may be involved in building our second Tiny House or could be working on a variety of other worthwhile projects at Milarepa. You can either let us know when you are free to volunteer your time or join our seasonal Work Study Program. In the Work Study Program, you offer 30 hours of work each week in exchange for room, board, our courses and retreats, and a wonderful chance to work with your mind!
