Ven. Geshe DakpaTeachings on the "Foundation of All Good Qualities" by Lama Tsong Khapa

Ven. Geshe Dakpa | September 28-30

This essential Gelukpa text is a Lam-Rim text, which is a guide on how to meditate and develop realization upon realization all the way up to enlightenment.

Ven Geshe Ngawang Dakpa is resident Teacher at our FPMT Center Tse Chen Ling in San Francisco. Born in Central Tibet, he lived with his nomadic family until the age of ten, when he entered Orbak Monastery. He was ordained as a novice monk at 13 and memorized sutras, ritual prayers and pujas, learned how to build mandalas, and play ritual instruments. He studied Tibetan grammar, poetry and astrology. In 1953, he entered Sera monastery, and was fully ordained as a monk by the Junior Tutor of the Dalai Lama. He continued his studies at the Sanskrit University in Benares (Varanasi), where he earned an M.A. with honors. Invited by the Queen of Sikkim to teach Tibetan at the University of Sikkim, he ended up staying for 20 years before returning to Sera Je monastery in South India to gain his Geshe degree. At the top of his class, he became an expert in Dharma, astrology, education, grammar, poetry, and philosophy. Well renowned for his brilliant scholarly achievements, his students are continually inspired by his breadth of knowledge and willingness to open his heart and mind in sharing the treasures of Buddha's teaching.
