Work study at Milarepa Center offers participants a unique experience of living, working, meditating, and studying at a residential Buddhist retreat center. It is a wonderful opportunity to live among a community of Buddhist practitioners as you develop and deepen your practice. During the summer we focus on working to create and serve programs for the community, as well as working on projects to keep the Center thriving. 30 hours of work each week is required in exchange for room, board, and participation in courses and programs.
You are required to work 5 days a week, for 6 hours each day. At times, programs will require that there is more work on certain days, and we will compensate for these longer work days with extra time off. Work study participants are required to attend Milarepa Festival Day, Family Camp, and a weeklong Lam-Rim retreat at the end of the summer. Participants are also highly encouraged to attend other ritual practices, course, and special programs throughout the summer.
